Null and Void A Royal States Novel eBook Susan Copperfield

Yeah this book just didn't hang together like it needed to. Some super empath is in contact with her through her dreams but lets her think he's a fiction in her head because... he claims she's a strong woman that didn't need him around to help raise her daughter for the past ten years? Shoot me in the head now and at the same time put a bullet in his head too. Then after we're both gone proceed to whip the MC until she comes to her sense.

On top of that this monofocused on her daughter mom just goes from unable to let go, to sending her daughter away to a boarding school in something like a hundred and fifty pages. I didn't buy it.

There's a good book in there somewhere it just got lost somewhere. I really wish the author could find it.

Null and Void A Royal States Novel eBook Susan Copperfield Reviews

Its been a long time since I could use the words unique and refreshing to describe a book. Null and Void did just that.

The book follows the life of Mackenzie, a null, who is looked down upon because of her lack of magic. When all seems lost, 24 hours with the man of her dreams changes her life forever.

The book was fun, suspenseful, and exciting. The romance, humor, and love between several characters was sweet. I truly enjoyed reading this and can't recommended the book enough. I look forward to the other releases.
In the distant past magic rose and the world crashed - taking the United States with it. At some point powerful family talents took power and created the Royal States out of the areas they organized out of the chaos. They retained the US names although not necessarily the boundaries - for example New York contains Maryland. At the time of the story everything has settled down – no zombies, no screaming thugs – but magic is power and being without magic [a null] makes you less than nothing. And, of course, our heroine is a null...

I enjoyed the story although the romance was mostly at the fringes of the plot. She's a strong woman and fights for the rights of nulls [and apparently a few other minorities] throughout the book. I loved the humor – she's definitely someone you would like to know.

Looking at the reviews some people loved it and some hated it – but I enjoyed it enough to pre-order the next book in this world "The Captive King".

FYI Susan Copperfield also writes as RJ Blain.
This is the first book I have read from this author. The story was engaging and flowed very well. The world building was very reminiscent of Ilona Andrews. The storyline was unique and the romance was slow. The story was sweet. The MC was well developed and regardless of the other reviews, the emotional rollercoaster she went through fell in line with the situation she was going through. Empty nest syndrome is real people..... The few grammar errors were really not an issue, and I'll leave that up to the grammar trolls.

Overall, the book was enjoyable and I would recommended it to readers.
Witty, sometimes sarcastic, but always fun dialogue is a guarantee in any RJ Blain novel, no matter what pen name she is writing under and this Susan Copperfield novel did not disappoint.
The world building is unique, well thought out and so much fun. I think RJ could take a phone book and turn it into something incredible to read. The best part is that her fans don’t have to wait a year for another book from her because she is a writing machine which moves her into my Number one favorite author spot.
The best part of this book is the relationship between Mackenzie and her daughter. I loved the interaction between them. All other relationships with Mackenzie come in a close second because of the the amazing story telling and the dialogue that I already stated was my favorite thing about RJ’s (Susan’s) books. Go read this book immediately and all her other books. You will not be disappointed.
I love RJ's other books, but this one was delightful. Every character was amazing (well, except the Princess, but she was characterized perfectly so one who not like her). The dialog flowed, one's attention was kept and it was a good story. The MC was not a stupid woman which I applaud;so many write people that have half a brain. The MC was quick enough to catch onto things and then deal with them. The MC's child at times seemed older than 10, but she was supposed to be precocious.

The world they lived in was well thought out. World divided into city-states, with kings and queens. Nulls with no rights. MC fighting to bring them rights. One thing I didn't quite understand were her parents, but they were minor enough to ignore.

Overall, a must read, in my opinion.
I loved every part of this novel. Like other novels by this author (under other pen names) this is nearly a trilogy of story arc's jammed into one delicious package. I've read it three times in three weeks since I purchased it. I find for this book knowing the ending made some of the story (and the easter eggs) even funnier.
This author combines a wicked sense of humor (spawnling anyone?) with captivating world-building and romance.

Note to the romance readers out there. The author builds up an entrancing romance between the leads and cuts to black after a certain point in the bedroom.
I've read a number of RJ Blain books and always enjoyed the crisp writing with smart mouthed characters. Now she is writing a magical romance series under the name of Susan Copperfield. Not normally into romances, but she keeps the story entertaining and moving along. My one gripe about this book would be the clueless nature of the main character when it comes to recognizing who the mysterious "king of Montana" really is. I was getting a bit upset with Ms Blain/Copperfield because no one could be as clueless as this character in real life, especially when she also happens to be a wiz at political manipulation in her job. The book could have been tightened up a bit and lose about a 100 pages, but overall an enjoyable read that you can put down and come back to when you are ready.
